Morse

The winter season was one of miracles for our Mighty Morsels. Beginning in November, with the bottom half nipping at our heels, we now find ourselves in second place and ready to strike at Saybrook in the spring.

Morse B-hoops has witnessed a number of miracles over the years (remember Jan "Sweet 'n'" Lo's '98 amazing half-court buzzer-beater in OT?), but none matched the "magic second" that helped us to our second straight B-hoops title. Down by one point to a tough Saybrook squad with only one tick left on the clock, Ryan "Wheel" Barrows '01 took this precious second and used it for all it was worth (some say even more). He got fouled and sent the game into overtime. Now, with our second straight B-hoops title under our belts and not a senior on this year's squad, talks of dynasty can be heard throughout the House of Payne.

More miracles were on the way as the ice hockey team overcame every obstacle in its way to claim its first title in three years. Everything from broken shoulders to broken zippers stood in the team's way, but in the end nothing could stop our undefeated champions. Against a tough Pierson squad in the season's final game, the Morsels rose to the occasion with a gritty 2-1 win. Sandy "Stonewall" Christopher '99 was unstoppable between the poles, backed by superstars Kevin "K" Scott '99, Ian "MIA" Macallister '00, Alex "Captain Crunch" Kallmann '01, and Blake "Superfly Snooka" Greene '02. Congrats also go to Dan "Wild Thing" Wild-erman '00, Josh "Len" Ber-man '02, Paolo "Danger" Campos '01, Chris "Terminator" Knapp '01, and Dave "Crazy Legs" Thompson '01 for their contributions.

As each week passes, another college bites the dust. The last will certainly be the hardest, but it will also be the sweetest. The moment of truth is upon us; miracles can happen. It is time to take the Tyng.
