Davenport

The sun is out, the gnome is smiling, and Daven../sports are off to a promising start this spring season. With participation greatly increased from last spring, D-port's goals have become a little loftier. Although some may argue that the Tyng Cup is statistically impossible for us to win at this point, we're not going to let their negativity distract us.

Led by captain Simon "Sorehands" Rodberg '00, the softball team began its season with a decisive victory over Timothy Dwight. Malay "Slugger" Patel '00, Sandra "Keith Hernandez" Kister '02, Gina "Clutch" LaRossa '00, Matt "Where's the field?" Obernauer '00, David "Who puts the sex in the Sextones?" Caputo '00, D.J. "I'm no ref, I'm a power hitter" McCrann '01, Renée "Somebody should be cheerleading for me" Baker '00, David "Agent M" Oppen-
heim '99, and Eli "King of all IMs" Horowitz '99 were classy all the way. This bodes well not only for the future of Davenport coed softball, the war in Kosovo, and space travel--it's also sardines.

Also looking great this season is the women's field hockey team, led by "To" Di "for" Erdmann-Sager '01 and Sandy "Party girl" Enuha '99. The girls began their season with a victory over Trumbrook and have organized many activities with sister college Pierson to increase participation and foster team bonding. Rumor has it these dedicated women have rented a house a block from the Yale Bowl to live in during the season and spend their evenings watching game film from practices conducted three times daily.

So, Davenport, you have come out of the gate with a sprint. Keep coming out and our triumph is assured.
