Saybrook

March Madness is coming to an end. The Huskies have taken the national championship, and Saybrook is days away from clinching its second consecutive Tyng. Certainly this may seem to be the death of a dynasty as seniors Whipple, McGrath, Iveljic, Conway, Delmont, Irwin, Rissi, and Matros make their last appearances on the IM fields by going 5-0 through the first week and a half. We took Saybrook from worst to first--and we did it twice!

Then again, don't be so quick to discount SY as a contender in the future. With fabulous freshmen like Brian Vinci, Laurie Randell, and Josh Zaharoff showing off their skills in softball and elsewhere, it looks like the foundation is set for something new and special once we seniors take off to the real world. While we will be missed, look for these frosh and the stellar sophomores led by names such as Fuge, Ells, Plattner, Chang, Reeves, Liptzin, Abaluck, Banuelo, and Jose (if he ever shows up again) and the wrecking crew of Bloom '00 and Liu '01 to take the 'Brook to the top ranks in the coming years.

I'd like to thank all those in other colleges who have made IMs so enjoyable through these past four years: KY, Manders, Sherlock, Morgado, Karch, Paley, May, Griffith, Rasika, Sarahb, Tamar, Big Janik, Mel, Gurman, Anna, Shapiro and the current secretaries, and especially the old veterans like Wilderman, Dizon, Libresco, Jedi, Walsh, Helen, Santi, Teresa, O'Meara, Gracey, Seung, Sarah, and Barrie, who've all been doing this IM job for way too long.

Saybrugians of all classes, let's finish strong. Female participation would be nice, but let's finish with a boom with what we've got. It's time to take home some more well-deserved shirts.

(Compiled by a beneficiary of what Chris Burke, PC '99, terms a "four-base error.")
