Around the Ivies

The Bears (8-9; 3-1 Ivy) did what they had never done before on Fri., Apr. 2: they swept Princeton in a doubleheader. Brown started off with an 8-5 victory in Game One. Bryan Kirby '00 went seven innings for the win, while Darran Merten '01 scored three runs. In the second game, Jim Johnson '01 allowed two runs over six innings as the Bears broke a tie in the sixth with two runs on the way
to a 7-4 win.

The Tigers (1-1, 2-0 Ivy) justified their No. 6 national ranking by handing Cornell its first loss of the year, 12-4, in Ithaca on Sat., Apr. 3. Princeton jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and extended it to a 7-1 lead at halftime. The quick start wasn't surprising; Princeton has outscored opponents 45-29 in the first half this year.
