Men's Lacrosse: Seniors turn up the heat

The Bulldogs 3-4 (2-2 Ivy) have once again proven they can overcome adversity. After losing on Sat., Apr. 3 to Princeton,
10-5, Yale's hopes for an Ivy championship seemed all but out of reach. Yet the Elis overcame the disappointment of the Princeton loss when they traveled to Providence on the afternoon of Wed., Apr. 7, to face a strong Brown team, one untested in league play. Neither team ever led by more than a goal, both struggling all game to achieve an edge. After being tied 3-3
at halftime and 6-6 after the third quarter,
it seemed that neither the Bears nor the Bulldogs were willing to concede defeat.
With just a little over two minutes left, though, rookie attackman Brian Hunt, TD '02, no stranger to scoring, netted his third goal of the day, sealing the 9-8 victory for the Bulldogs.

With two league games remaining, the Eli seniors have some imporant goals remaining. "Dartmouth is a team that the seniors have never lost to and Harvard is a team the seniors have never beaten," captain Joe Pilch, SM '99, said. If they manage to beat the Big Green and the Crimson over in the weeks to come, the seniors could end their final season 4-2 in the league and possibly finish in second place. According to Pilch, although both games are not in
the immediate future, their importance is
already apparent. "We have so many seniors and that sense of urgency is coming
on," he said.
