Silliman

O bitter end! 'Tis the 12th and final column, and Silliman rests in third position, having miraculously regained the 400 points and nine spots it mysteriously lost last week. We are ready to ride into the twilight of the Tyng campaign with many a happy memory, an abundance of triumphs, and, yes, a buttload of playoff teams.

At press time, five teams had clinched postseason berths: volleyball, field hockey, baseball, softball, and golf. Our hats off to Chauncey "Tee-Tickling" Twine '01, Phil "Had a Little" Lam '01, Darius "The" Few "the proud" lass '01, Jay "Hole-in-One" Hallen '01, and Stephen "Slice-less" Harl-ton '01 for representing Silliman over nine holes. They are looking for an eligible and strong Silliwoman to accompany them for the championship meet next week—any takers? The likes of Turrito '00, Sims '99, Luckett '99, Sullivan '99, Torres '99, and the rest will be anchoring an exciting championship baseball game against Morse-Stiles on Monday, fresh off a 13-1 shellacking of Trumbrook. And there will definitely be no forfeiting the shirts this time around.

Finally, I'd like to thank an impeccable senior intramural class, for its leadership has engineered one of the biggest turnarounds in the history of Yale intramurals and squashed Tyng oppression until it bled for mercy. Many thanks to Brett Libresco '99, an outgoing secretary who has mentored the rest of us simply by example. Thanks to the frosh counselors for helping make IMs fun for everyone again. Many thanks to franchise leaders like Andrew, Courtney, Robin, Michelle, Danny, Robby, Ben, J-luv, Rob-jam, and Roger for being the best emissaries of amateur sport I know. To all the seniors: you will be missed, and we'll try our best, despite the great void you leave behind, to win some more for you.
