Morse

Like a scorching case of gonorrhea, Morse is back and on fire. After posting one of the most amazing comebacks in intramural history—from dead last after a week and a half into the fall season to sixth place at the end of fall and all the way to second place at the conclusion of the year—Morsels are hungry for the one honor that eluded them last year: Tyng Cup glory.

After winning the shirts in 1998, the tennis team fell in the semis of the playoffs last year. This fact does not sit well with Roel Gutierrez '00 and Amy Chang '00, who will captain the quest to recapture the shirts that should never have been relinquished. All players return from last year.

The men's soccer team, led by Colin Pan '01 and Jonathan Thessin '00, as well as by Kyle McEneaney '02, who came up with several huge goals last year, looks to advance far into the season.

Improving upon a dead last finish should not be difficult for Warner Off '02, Sara Perkins '01, and the rest of the Morse golfers, despite the key loss of Kevin Scott '99. Meanwhile, cross country expects to surpass l998's second place finish.

Football—both coed and men's— proved to be Morse's area of greatest improvement last year. Both teams finished around the .500 mark, unheard of in recent Morse football history. The freshmen who successfully led these teams are now sophomores: a little stronger, a little bolder, and a lot more knowledgeable about the wack rules that IM football is known for. Opponents beware! Cliff Bossard '02, Yves Dharamraj '02, Brad Lebow '02, Will Durbin '02, and Annis Whitlow '01 are on the prowl.

The epicenter of both hype and hope lies in Morse in 1999. Like gonorrhea, we just won't go away.
