Smack Zone

Lichtig

It looks like another great week for the college football guru. Last week I called yet another major upset and my Lions did it again against Brees. This week, look for Arrington to get at least 2 sacks ($500) in a Lion win at Illinois ($2500). Purdue will rebound with a win at Minnesota ($1500) and Florida will outlast Georgia ($1000). In the shocker of the season, Pittsburgh will knock off No. 3 Virginia Tech ($1000). You heard it here first. Just remember that when Tig is on the prowl, you betta watch ya' back. Last Week: +$2,500. Current Balance: $11,551

Randell is looking forward to Halloween, 'cause it's the only day of the year when she's not the scariest person on the block. Unlike Randell, Lichtig isn't scary—he's just scared, because I'm finally Smack Queen, and he has no hope of ever catching up. I'll continue my reign this week by taking the Devils over Carolina ($700) and Philadelphia ($500) and the Knicks over Cleveland ($900) in their season opener. Back in New Haven, football ($600) and men's soccer ($1,000) both pummel Penn, while the booters take another victory over Colgate on Monday ($1,500). Last Week: +$4,100. Current Balance: $18,352

Randell

What the hell happened? All my boyz let me down last week. Moron, you don't deserve to be Smack Queen. Anyone who knows that little about football doesn't deserve to be anything more than a Beta girl. Time to make back my money...Michigan earns back my love by beating Indiana by 10 ($600), and I see Drew Henson in Ann Arbor ($1,500). $600 says Yale hockey scores against Michigan Saturday. Yale football surprises Penn ($700), and Florida manages to hold off Georgia ($900). And I return as Smack Queen (guaranteed). Last Week: -$500. Current Balance: $16,301

Guest: Jay Cox

Last week, Chris Burke represented the "old school." This week, it's time for some new blood. As the first freshman entering the Smack Zone, I'll start with what got me here, picking the NFL. Mike Holmgren won't have much fun in his return to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field: Packers over Seahawks ($500). Meanwhile, the Cowboys will fall to the Colts ($1000), Florida will pound overrated Georgia ($2000), and on the NBA's opening day, the Lakers will begin the Phil Jackson era with a bang, taking out Utah ($500). Most importantly, the Red Sox will win their first World Series since 1918, as both the Yankees and Braves inexplicably forfeit ($0.01). Boston fans learn never to give up hope. Last Week: -$3750. Current Balance: +$300.
