Davenport

For anyone who's been living in a sealed up, soundproof cave for the past few months, I thought you should know that D-Port finished the fall IM season in eighth place. "Eighth place! Gee golly whitakers, how the heck did that happen?" you ask. Well, you wanna know the deep dirty secret to our success? I'll tell ya. It's not just getting people out to the games. See, some colleges have tons of participation but just lack the talent. D-Port, actually known as D-bomb, has what it takes. That's right, we got da skills. And now that we've started showing up to our games, y'all better watch out. In fact, to give you a little heads up of what we have in store for you, here's a little preview of the winter season.

Coed water polo and bowling. Based on the number of people who signed up for these sports—which at last count was over 600—nothing more need be said. Last year, in coed ice hockey, we finished second—and we were disappointed! That's right, this season it's all about the gold. Squash. Let me remind you that Davenport is the "legacy" college, so you know we're good at all those racquet sports. A-hoops is looking strong thanks to a tall freshman class and a solid group of veterans. B-hoops has its core group from last year back and is ready to rise to the top, and C-hoops, well, let's just say that they've been practicing.

With a core group of sophomores who have been playing every week in September, some enthusiastic frosh, and talented vets, look for women's b-ball to make a run at it. Fortunately for us, and too bad for everyone else, we just happen to have a lot of kids who were recruited for swimming but decided they'd rather party instead. Good thing they still have time for IMs. Aw, I'm sorry, you other pathetic colleges. Lastly, volleyball. I think I'll remind everyone that D-Port was the volleyball IM champ in the fall. We're so good, in fact, that Harvard's championship volleyball team backed out of its match against us. But maybe that was just 'cause Harvard sucks so much in every way. I'll let you decide.

There you have it. Hopefully you're not too scared to show up to games against us. In case you're still stupidly intrepid, let me give one more example of how D-Port is coming together. Think back to this year's glorious Game. Which college was burning JE flags and cheering the loudest? This darkhorse is ready to ride, baby, so let's get it on. (Compiled by Marvin Gaye and a couple of his non-english major friends who are da bomb.)
