Well, this is it, folks. It's finally time for Tig to take over. There are a few interesting games this week, including Nebraska vs. Texas and Alabama vs. Florida. I'll take the Longhorns and the Gators. PSU will lose in the Alamo Bowl and Frank Beamer's Hokies will win the national title, embarassing the ancient cheater Bowden. But I'm not betting on any of these games. I'm betting the farm on the best team in the country— JE A-hoops. The Sux will win both of their games during reading week ($7,751). Last Week: -$4,000. Should I even bother to bet this week? Tig and Randell are so poor that they'll have to collect welfare checks after I kick their sorry asses in this semester's final round of Smack bets. I'll stay on top this week by taking the Devils over Ottawa ($100) and Calgary ($500). The Rangers will skate past Montreal on Friday ($100), while the Flyers will deal the Canadiens a second loss the following day ($600). The Blues will continue their streak by crushing San Jose ($500), while the Islanders pummel the Thrashers in possibly the most irrelevant match-up of the season ($700). See ya next semester, losers. Whoa, the pressure. I can't get beaten by my own mother, I'd never live it down. At least she knows more about football than Moron ever will—that was a gutless bet, Moron, we all knew Yale would win. Show some balls for once, you undeserving Smack Queen. Tig, tear yourself away from The Babysitters Club and climb out of the Smack cellar—you're pitiful. Michigan will take down whichever of 'Bama or Florida has the misfortune of being in the Orange Bowl ($2,500), and FSU will stay sweet in the Sugar Bowl ($1,500). Women's ice hockey scores against Harvard, women's b-ball scores another win vs. SHU, and Tig doesn't score anything ($400 each). Last Week: +$9,800. Is it a coincidence that I finally won Pick the Pros when my sports editor daughter knows that I'm shopping for her Hanukkah presents? Look for Michigan to win the Orange Bowl ($2,000). And, to be nice, Penn State will win the Alamo Bowl ($500). Yale hockey will split against Colgate and Cornell ($700). In the battle of New York, the Jets will take down the Giants ($1,000). The Bulls will win at least one game during the month of December (this may be the gutsiest bet yet this semester, for $1,500). Finally, a word on behalf of all your Moms: take advantage of reading period to be sure you know what courses you're taking and where the exams will be, to avoid living the test dream.
