Editor's Note

At this point in the 2000-2001 year, some might say the Tyng Cup is anyone's game. But the fact cannot be ignored that certain colleges have proved themselves superior than others in past years. Timothy Dwight, Silliman, Ezra Stiles, Saybrook and mighty, mighty Morse have consistently proved their ability out on the fields, in the pool and on the rink. This week's standings do not reflect this fact for sure. Whether Saybrook and Branford's sudden rise to the top will last longer than shopping period will have to be determined. Maybe those snazzy new dining halls in the renovated colleges are serving up something special. Oh wait, Branford isn't finished, scratch that.

Saybrook does have some Tyng greatness in its past, albeit a distant past greatly overshadowed by Morse's astounding accomplishments in 2000. The Saybrugians had a strong week because they are obviously feeling the stinging burn of losing that Tyng Cup last year. Saybrook has a foothold in the No. 1 spot, but they will definitely get a run for their money from certain stellar colleges. The children of the Lipstick are still reeling from their 2000 cup and are only reinforced by a great new class of 2004 IM superstars. Record numbers of Morsels are flocking to the fields to defend what is theirs. Watch out.
