Pierson

Okay, I'm not going to lie to you. The Pierson IM squads did not get off to the best start this year. As of Sun., Sept. 17, we were 23 points behind the 11th place team in the Tyng standings. Ouch. It is still early, though, and we have plenty of time to move up the rankings. The golf squad played seven holes of scratch golf last weekend behind the booming drives of Jonas Heymann '02 and the stellar all-around play of Elizabeth Hardy '02 and Manish Vora '02. On another note, men's football suffered a couple of rough losses to start the season but has improved considerably over last season's team, which forfeited the season after the third game. Meanwhile, the coed football team brought home its first victory of the season this week. Despite playing down a girl, Captain Michael Robertson '02 managed a victory that featured some amazing catches by Cara Drewes '03 and Ben Schrader '03. Not to be outdone, Marie D'Errico '02 hauled in the game-winning catch on the last play of the game. Following the coed football success, Schot "P-V" Hannan '01 led the men's soccer team to its first victory of the season this week. The table tennis team started well by sweeping the men's singles matches but finished in a disappointing tie. Big things should be ahead for this group, which looks to compete for the championship T-shirts and help Pierson ascend to the top of the Tyng standings.
