Ezra Stiles

Sound the shofar: Stiles may not have gotten off to a stellar start, but tomorrow marks the beginning of a new year. And 5761 is going to be a good one for the gold and black. Erin Flynn '02 wins the Apples and Honey Award for driving out to the fields after a desperate phone call on Monday. Once a forfeit was avoided, the undermanned ES volleyball squad quickly erased the one game advantage Morse had been awarded because of the late start. The match was over before Morse could say L'Shanah Tovah. Tennis and men's football round out the other teams off to fast starts. Captains Dan Osnoss '03 and Eliza Park '01 have the other tennis squads saying "Oy vey" when they see Stiles on the schedule, and seniors Grant Chavin and Chris Edwards have the men's football team parting opposing defenses like the Red Sea. But not every team has been quite as successful. The soccer teams have a bit of atoning to do. To be inscribed in the book of life, Stiles women will have to start showing more enthusiasm for soccer, volleyball, tennis, and the rest of the sports that they tend to avoid. Without their help, Stiles won't have a prayer.

(Compiled by a Moose who is a little too excited about the holiday season.)
