Pierson

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but the next time that you take a look at the Tyng Cup standings, there's a chance that Pierson might not be in last place anymore. Last Thursday, against Davenport, the undefeated Pierson co-ed table tennis team won its second match of the season with a thrilling three-game victory by Cara "Gee, I'm spunky" Drewes '03 and Schot "There's a c, dammit" Hannan '01 in the final and deciding match. On Tuesday, the team again rose to the challenge, dispatching Silliman 5-3. This coming Thursday, the team will try to better its record to a league-leading 4-0-2. Despite a slow start to their season, the members of the Pierson co-ed volleyball team stomped all over JE Tuesday afternoon. Although Aaron Krinsky '03 reportedly "couldn't get it up," Daniela Ricciardi '01 led the team to victory for the second time this season with strong performances by Alya Adamany '02, Chris Rhudy '01, and Jessica Lin '01. Still no word on whether or not the team will be playing in the quarterfinals later this week. The Pierson men's soccer team has had a bit of a hard time finishing this season, but now that our freshman saviors have arrived, there's light at the end of the tunnel. With its strongest showing of the season, the class of '04 led the team to a 1-0 victory over Saybrook on a lovely goal by Joe "Superman" Gennaro. On Thursday, the team will look for its third win of the season against JE. Last Thursday, Pierson's football teams had somewhat disappointing outings against Silliman. Although the men's team won by default, the co-ed team was not as fortunate. Despite great performances from Heisman hopeful Joe Gennaro and all-star cornerback Chris Rhudy, who incidentally came up with two interceptions in the game, the team lost 19-14 after being penalized seven points for their late arrival, an obvious miscarriage of justice.
