Sprint football


Penn lightweight football steamrolls Cornell

The Quakers defeated Cornell 20-0 on Fri., Sept. 30, and Penn's John Clarke '01 and Mark Gannon '03 were named the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Player's of the Week. Sprint football is lightweight football and has a weight maximum of 165 lbs. Clarke, the Penn captain, recorded nine tackles and a sack. Gannon rushed for 106 yards and two touchdowns.

Three former standouts from Brown have been named to the 2001 United States Women's National Ice Hockey Team. Brown's all-time leading scorer, Katie King '97, and Tara Mounsey '01 were on the teamwhen it won the gold medal at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano. Ali Brewer '00, a goalie and last year's Ivy League Player of the Year, will be making her National Team debut.
