Pictorial pundits pile on presidential poobahs

At a loss for words, the 'Herald' turns to pictures to make some sense of Tuesday's presidential election.

If there's any consensus to be had about this election, it's that somebody's stupid or dishonest or corrupt or delusional. Frankly, we're all about two seconds away from losing the ability to make sense of this mess. The merry DKE boy who probably needs a teleprompter to spell his own name, the stiff who needs an original opinion, the granola-eating malcontent who has about as much chance of spontaneously combusting as he does of winning, the neo-Fascist dyspeptic, not to mention a bunch of other oddballs—what a show! At least it's entertaining. So sit back and read some comics. They're more informative than anything you'll see on TV anyway.

Try to imagine a New York Times Op-Ed page without Robert Toles or Thomas Oliphant. This week, the presidential election inspired the Herald cartoonists to take their own shots at the amorphous beast of American politics. And it's a hell of a lot more fun than the debates.
