Men's basketball teams bite the bullet in the name of experience

In a marked shift of tradition, more and more Ivy league basketball teams are squaring off against the best teams in the country. Already this season, Princeton has lost to number-one Duke; Brown fell to UConn; Yale to Ohio St.; and later this month, Penn will take on nationally ranked Seton Hall and Temple.

Most recently, Cornell travelled to East Lansing, Mich. to take on defending national champion Michigan St. In a lopsided contest, the Spartans blew the Big Red out of the gym, 86-59. Cornell's only lead of the game came 34 seconds into the contest when Wallace Prather hit a three-pointer to put Cornell ahead 3-2. Michigan St.'s 14-0 run midway through the first half buried the Big Red, who were out rebounded 47-26 on the night.

Cornell freshman Ka'ron Barnes led the Big Red with 15 points, while senior Ray Mercedes added nine.
