Jonathan Edwards

The water was a mess. A delicate system of balance, built up slowly over the years, now hung perilously at the edge of the cataclysm of change, all in a mere 40 minutes. Helpless and overwhelmed, a crowd of people looked on in disbelief, with only their rubber skullcaps and eye goggles to protect them. But don't worry, this disaster was planned and controlled. Its cause? The JE coed water polo team.

It's not noticeable at first, above the odors of chlorine and sweat that plague the third floor practice pool, but it's there. It's the remains of Calhoun and Davenport, spilled without mercy in 4-3 and 4-1 victories. The first victory was accomplished with only five people, while the second one enlisted a full squad of six. Among the leaders of this undefeated company are Alex "Jack" Potter '01, Michael "Sponge" Gelfand '01, Pietro "Cutter" Canetta '01, Alex "The Dolph" Jhin '01, Cole "If ja-water comes in from the aft, you should" Jabaily '02, Katie "More mermaid than In" Dion '02, Laura "Starfish, legs of" Feiveson '02, Jocelyn "The Siren" Smith '02, Andy "Tube shark" Graham" '02, Derek Keil "Haul" '03, Chris "Man" Peckover "board" '04, Jonathan "Kingfish" Smith '04, and Teo "Why yes, I'm a Pisces" Kaye '04.

On other shores, the destruction had begun many weeks ago. A-, B-, and C-hoops all had victories over Pierson. The women's hoops and men's volleyball teams have faced similar rough waters, whirlpools of first defeats, forfeits, and close losses, but the future looks bright. Coed squash and bowling have gotten off to solid starts. Finally, though they've had little luck recently, the women's volleyball team is about to change its look...and the new IM shirts are gonna help.
