Around the Ivies

Brown wide receiver Stephen Campbell '01 has been named a Walter Camp first-team Division I-AA All-American. The Walter Camp team is the nation's oldest All-America team, established by Camp in 1889 and later continued by sportswriter Grantland Rice.

Campbell, Rhode Island's Male Athlete of the Year, has also been named a first team All-American by the Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association, the Sports Network, and the Football Gazette. He eclipsed Jerry Rice on the NCAA all-time career receiving list. Campbell led the nation in receptions with an NCAA record 12.0 per game, and receiving yards with 134.0 per game, while leading the Bears to a 7-3 record and a third-place finish in the Ivy League standings. In 40 career games at Brown, Campbell made an Ivy League record 305 receptions, the second-best career mark in NCAA Division I-AA history.
