Harvard's soccer rookie named to Soccer America team

Harvard freshman Katie Westfall was the only Ivy League athlete named to the Soccer America Women's All-Freshman team. A mid-fielder, Westfall ranked second on the team in scoring with 18 points and was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

She is the sixth Harvard player to earn this honor, and she was also named First Team All-Ivy in a vote of the conference coaches. She was a two-time Ivy Rookie of the Week selection and earned Soccer America Team of the Week honors after the October 20 Princeton game, when she notched a goal and an assist in handing Princeton its first Ivy loss. After missing the first-round NCAA game while quarantined with the chicken pox, she returned to assist on Ashley Mattison's, Harvard '01, game-winning diving header against Hartford in the second round to propel the Crimson into the third-round tilt with top-ranked Notre Dame.
