Records shattered

Princeton wins Ivy title in women's swimming and diving

The Princeton Tigers clinched the Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championships for the second year in a row and the 12th time overall. The Tigers' final point total of 870 was 96 better than second-place Brown and 313 better than third-place Yale.

Meredith Bryarly, BR '01, was named the 2001 Swimmer of the Meet, and Princeton's Erin Lutz '01 was named the Diver of the Meet. Bryarly broke the pool record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.88. Brown's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Emily McCoy '04, Lindsay Hoban '04, Liz Daniels '04, and Dawn Chuck '02 shattered the meet record by over four seconds and the pool record by almost three seconds with a time of 3:21.57. Princeton took first, second, and third place in the three-meter diving event.Throughout the weekend pool records were broken in the 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, and the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays. Meet records were broken in the 200- and 400-yard medley relays. —Compiled by Anna Dolinsky
