Jonathan Edwards

Before the spring season really starts, the JE women would like to thank everyone who made their victory in this winter's basketball tournament possible. First, Saybrook. Everyone thought that the number-two team would certainly send us whimpering. We had different ideas, and showed Saybrook a bigger ass-whupping than the two Canadian chicks who got into a fight at my hotel over spring break. Karlyn "Yes, I am a twin" Martin '04 had Saybrugians running in circles in vain attempts to stop her drives into the lane.

Then there's TD. Once again, no one thought we could do it. Yet we sent TD home even faster than Saybrook. Our defense crushed TD better than a drunken frat boy crushes beer cans on his forehead. Jocelyn "Fast Legs" Smith '02 single-handedly shut down TD's entire offense, while Miriam "Rugby" Seifter '03 opened a can of whup ass on the frightened TD players.

Last, but certainly not least, there's Stiles. The almost undefeated Stiles team quaked at the sight of the JE women, who brought them to their knees, confirming Alex Pott-er's '01 assertion, "Stiles is my bitch." Candace "Power Forward" Green '02 overwhelmed Stiles with her rebounding and posting abilities.

Thanks to all the women who played this season. From being seventh seed and not even mentioned as contenders, the JE women's basketball team says boo-yah! Intimidated by our power? Impressed by our strength? You should be.

(Compiled by a proud captain and IM secretary.)
