Bulldogs on a roll

BY ANNA DOLINKSY

Taking a cue from last season's strong start (11-5, 4-3 Ivy), the women's lacrosse team once again defeated its first three opponents, winning games against Hofstra, Connecticut, and Penn over break and clinching a solid victory over New Hampshire on Wed., Mar. 21. Miles Whitman, BK '04, the Ivy League Player of the Week last week and member of the 1999 Under-19 World Cup championship team, is proving herself as an offensive threat, having scored seven goals on Wed., Mar. 21 to lead the Bulldogs to a 13-10 win. Clarissa Clarke, JE '03, added three goals for the Elis.

The Bulldogs had a 10-5 halftime lead but fell into a back-and-forth stretch with the Wildcats in the second half. UNH scored twice to come within 11-7 before Whitman scored again. Goalie Amanda Sisley, JE '03, is this week's Defensive Player of the Week, recording four saves against New Hampshire. She is currently the Ivy League's leader in overall goals against average (3.03) and save percentage (.800). Sisley recorded 36 saves, including 17 in the 10-2 win over Penn.

"I think our attack is much more balanced, and the sophomores, most of whom played last year but may not have started or had a huge role, are really stepping up and have more confidence in themselves," Megan Strenski, MC '02 said.

The Bulldogs are 4-0 heading into their key matchup with Dartmouth at home this weekend.
