Silliman

Saybrook might have clinched the Tyng, but Silliman still has a few battles left to fight. I'm not sure about the statistics, but this is certainly one of the closest races for a single place in IM history: a mere 9.5 points separates the four teams vying for eighth place, ensuring that the winner will not be determined until all games have been played. The moral of the story: Silliman will be that eighth place.

Why? Dedication. Dinah "Kosher for Passover" Herlands '04 came out for softball today with a broken foot, feeling guilty that she was missing her scheduled time to work at a soup kitchen. This is no lie, ladies and gentlemen. This is heart. Speaking of broken bones, a certain other Sillimander played with a broken finger. Gutting it through with a glove on the wrong hand, he turned an unassisted double play at second base!

Alas, Branford was unsympathetic to these injuries, calling forfeit when the team arrived five minutes late. The wrenching loss to Branford ended Silliman's unbeaten streak, but no matter—we'll make up for it in the playoffs. We have a really secret weapon, unlike Saybrook's "3-0" softball team that has yet to play a game.

In this last column, I'd like to thank those people who dedicated their time to Silliman intramurals. Katie, Ben, Amit, MacKenzie, Masrter K, Dean Flick, and everyone who participated in IMs this school year at all, thanks for a fun time. Silliman and God-silla will be back next year, better than ever, with sights set high.
