Calhoun

As the IM season nears, the fire that burned within the 'Houn during its memorable fall runs for Tyng glory is rekindling. With the addition of a spirited freshman class, that which has eluded the college for nearly three decades is finally within close grasp. The year kicks off with Garren Givens '04 looking to defend his golf title.

The promising volleyball team returns sophomore stars Elliott Henry '04, Maddy Fleisher '04, Colleen Carey '04, and the 6'7" Thrill '04. Lindsay Tracy '03, Bryan Johnson '03, Amanda Jenks '03, Tatiana Jitkoff '03, and Calhoun Fellow Tilo Wettig will also factor as team mainstays.

Despite graduating some top female pongers, the 'Houn returns last year's freshman sensations, Liz Baker '04 and Amsalu Dabela '04, along with Adam Goldfarb '02 and the rough-and-tumble gang of the junior class—Amman Fenster '03, Josh Lobert '03 and Tom Ni '03—that brought the table tennis team its undefeated finish last year. On the courts, Tony Cotto '03 and Elana Den '03 hope to lead the tennis team to the prize that has been eluding it in past years: a playoff berth.

The football and soccer juggernauts also took a hit due to graduation, but with talented freshmen filling the void and veterans such as Animal '04, Tom Sullivan '03, El Kasserole '03, Mack Blumer '03, 'Noza '03, and Katherine Whitney '02, who dares count them out? And Calhoun's Achilles' heel, bolstered by the performances of last year's runners, Risa Berkower '02 and Rebecca Bowman '02, and by the addition of nationally ranked triathlete Ben Elder '03, definitely looks to be in fine shape.
