Dick steps down

Dartmouth Director of Athletics Richard G. "Dick" Jaegar, who reinvigorated a once dormant Big Green athletic program, announced his retirement from the post he has held since 1989. Under Jaegar's guidance, Dartmouth has gained national recognition as a leader in issues of gender equity and Dartmouth teams have earned 43 Ivy League championships. Before moving to the athletic department, Jaeger spent 25 years in the school's admissions office. His retirement is effective in June 2002.

Penn-Princeton postponed

The annual preseason football scrimmage between the Quakers and Tigers was cancelled Tuesday due to an unexpected lightning storm. With the scored tied at seven in the second quarter, the skies opened up, and after ten minutes of waiting, the two head coaches agreed to call the game. Both teams open their seasons Sat., Sept. 15, as Penn faces Lehigh and Princeton battles Lafayette.
