Berkeley

Well, thus opened another glorious season of BK IMs. We've been generous enough to give you suckas the Tyng Cup since World War II, but playtime's over. How did we start out our season, you ask?

Men's football got off to a solid start with a 30-6 victory last week. Many kudos go out to Captain Ricky Bayers '03 and his fearsome  pack of scurvy dogs: Raaj "I took the ball and I ran" Narayan '03, Jer-maine "Fearsome" McPherson '03, Thad "The Fence" Novak '02, James "Big" Herron '03, and Micah "Mini" Herron '05. Using the well-established strategy of one play, they quickly laid the smack down.

Most of our other sports were not as fortunate, however. Co-ed football lost a close game, but Captain "Scary" Gary Thompson '03 sees a fine season in the horizon. Future draft picks to the WNFL include Lauren "Crazy Legs" Fullerton '04 and Kristin "Crazy Hands" Thompson '05. Unlike those beastly forwards in the WNBA, these ladies managed to play some solid game and not look like men.

BK Volleyball also took one in the gut. But strong performances from Jimmy "Now I'm the only one" Chang '04, Lauren "In yet another sport" Fullerton '04, Sharon "When I hit the ball, it goes" Hwang '04, Tyler "Big Country" Coyle '05, Kristin "I'm better than my brother" Thompson '05, Vanya "I scored most of our points" Pasheva '05, Greg "If you're kosher, don't eat" Hamm '05, and Jeanny "On time" Lee '05.  Captain Howard "This is a rebuilding season" Han '02 promises good things within a week.

Unlike Saybrook, all of our electricity works. Unlike TD, we're not in the no-man's-land of Swing Space. And unlike Trumbull, we don't intrinsically suck.

(The writer of this IM column would like to pour a 40 to the recently deceased Victor Wong, star of Big Trouble in Little China.)
