Prepping for Ivy foes

The pieces of the puzzle seem to be in place for the Yale women's golf team this season, as most of its players from last year's squad are returning. Anticipation of upcoming competitions is at a high as the Bulldogs look forward to battling Ivy League foes this fall.

According to Captain Sarah Seo, TD '02, winning the Ivies is Yale's primary goal at the moment. After clinching the 2000 Championships and finishing second behind perennial rival Princeton, the Elis seem to be in contention once again this season.

In addition to the Tigers, Brown may also present a challenge; Jenny Schriefer, DC '02, notes that the Bears "have been getting better every year."

The team's first test comes this weekend at the Yale Invitational. With a strong core of upperclassmen, the Elis will rely upon the leadership and experience of their veterans. Several rookies, including Anna Jepson, TD '05, and Stephanie Wei, TC '05, should provide added depth to the team; both rookies are among the team's top-five golfers.

Schriefer maintains an optimistic outlook about this weekend's upcoming match, claiming the Elis have a "very good shot at winning [the Invitational]." Seo added that, if the pieces come together, "the sky's the limit" for the Yale women's golf team.
