Bacher to help Cornell keepers

Kevin Bacher, a four-year starting goalkeeper at Syracuse, joined the Cornell men's soccer staff last week. Bacher will serve as an assistant coach for Cornell and head coach Brian Scales. Though his chief role is in working with the Big Red's goalies, he will also help with scouting and recruiting. Prior to working at Cornell, Bacher had served as the head goalkeepers' coach for the 2001 Eastern New York State Olympic Development Team and for the Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse.

Lavold spikes the competition

Columbia's Kathy Lavold '03 was named ECAC Player of the Week after a stellar performance at the Towson Invitational on Sat. and Sun., Sept. 22 and 23. Lavold was named Most Valuable Player at the tournament after tallying 48 kills and hitting just under .500. The middle-hitter posted a team-high 21 kills against host Towson. For her exceptional offensive game, the Ivy League also named her Volleyball Player of the Week.
