Pierson

Well, we surprised everyone this fall—including ourselves—as the PIMPs jumped as high as second in the Tyng standings. Assuming fall MVP Phil Kenney '04 can play hockey, basketball, squash, water polo and volleyball, I predict a rise to first place this winter. But before we look ahead, it seems appropriate to look back on what Pierson accomplished this fall.

Soccer won their finale this week to finish the season 7-3-1. The team beat JE 1-0 behind huge saves by Adam Shot '04 (surprise—Phil scored the winning goal). Just goes to show if you replace Steve Amdur '01 with anybody (much less freshman stars Phil and Henry), you're gonna improve on last season's 1-8-2 record.

Coed football concluded its season with a forfeit win. It must be some kind of record to finish a season 7-4 with five forfeit victories.

Tennis and soccer both finished in second place for the season. To the surprise of no one, it was Saybrook who beat us. The only time Pierson beat Saybrook all season was in the volleyball championships, bringing up some very important questions.

What's the deal with Saybrook? Do they do anything but play IMs? How can they be so good at every sport? I did some investigating and found who is to blame. It seems the Yale Residential College Assignment Commission decided to conduct a sick experiment. They thought it would be a great idea to create a college with 400 kids who rode the bench on some high school varsity sport and wrote their admissions essays on how badly they wanted to participate in IMs. It's like genetically engineering the super IM college. It isn't fair. So let me be the first to call shenanigans on Saybrook: Shenanigans on Saybrook! For now, Pierson can take solace in having an enclosed courtyard, TNC, and a dominance not witnessed since the days before Amdur. (Compiled by an Ed Norton look-alike.)
