Conversations with a King

The following are excerpts from a Mon., Oct. 29 talk with H.I.M. Reza Pahlavi of Iran.

"The reason a lot of people turn to me is because of name recognition...I'm a household name in Iran. Though my name is recognized, it's because of what I have said that has galvanized the nation around certain principles. I've talked about the need for democratic change..."

"The experience of my generation is the reverse of the Pilgrims. They came from their respective countries with experience. I can go back to my country and bring the know-how I have gained in the best of the democratic countries. My generation can do that. The next generation is not deprived of this; they have access through the Internet. We can bring in the information and the resources. Or we can go about our business. I have a duty to my homeland."

"The world has been spending 23 years putting out fires in the Middle East and no one has gone after the arsonists, and who are the arsonists? The clerical regimes."
